The research institute


The department of Climate Smart Agriculture at Patuakhali Science and Technology University will above all be a research institute. To ensure a flying start, various researches will be conducted within the framework of the project.

The PSTU will work together with the project partners on so-called collaborative researches. The research subjects focuses on the fields of expertise of our partners, and are characterized by their applied nature.

Additionally, there are two PhD positions and eight post-doc programs. The PhD-students, and three post-docs have already started their research activities.

Moriom Akter Mousumi is lecturer at the department of plant pathology. She is joining the four-year PhD program. In this context, mrs. Akter Mousumi examines the opportunities for climate adaptation services.

Md. Ektear Uddin is a professor at the department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development at PSTU, and co-coordinates the project from the PSTU side. Prof. Uddin is joining the two-year post-doc program. The post-doc research is focusing on engaging women in climate information services to address and overcome the gap in access to information.

Md. Isfatuzzaman Bhuyan is lecturer at the department of agronomy at PSTU. He is joining the four-year PhD program. In this context, Md. Bhuyan examines adaptation strategies to salt intrusion in the coastal zones of Bangladesh.

Md. Alamgir Kabir is a professor at the department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development at PSTU, and co-coordinates the project from the PSTU side. Prof. Kabir is joining the two-year post-doc program. The post-doc research is focusing on salt-tolerant crops.

Dr. Muhammad Maniruzzaman is a professor at the department of Agricultural Chemistry. Prof. Maniruzzaman is joining the two-year post-doc program. The post-doc research is focusing on the impact of climate change on agriculture in terms of salinity and nutrient dynamics.
